tip then tap
It started out slow, but it picked up speed. There was a tap, a tip tap on the wall of Eric’s room. Eric jumped, Eric knew nobody was home. First a tip then a tap, then a pause. The first pause was long enough that Eric began to wonder if he imagined the sound. But then tip then tap again and Eric knew he was not alone. He looked out the window and saw the usual empty field that he always saw. He turned from the window and from behind him on the windowpane he heard tip then tap and he jumped and spun around and saw nothing.
It started out low, but it picked up pitch. There was a hum, a singsong chant seeping into the room. Eric’s alarm grew and he placed his ear to the wall to find the source of the hum. The hum started out low, but it picked up pitch and that bestowed a sense of urgency. Tip then tap on the other side of the wall from Eric’s ear now tip then tap and the hum started out low, but it picked up pitch and then tip then tap and Eric fell flat.
